As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Mushtaq Ahmad Lone of Shouch, Kulgam was killed by militants in Lal Bazar area of Srinagar on Tuesday evening. In April 2020, Aaqib Mushtaq, engineering graduate was killed in an encounter in Guddar area of Kulgam and police claimed that Aaqib was a militant associate, a claim strongly rebutted by family.

Lone’s relatives and neighbours described him as a pious soul who was known for helping the downtrodden.

The slain offered congregational Eid prayers at home and re-joined his duty on Tuesday, said his relative.

His family members and relatives demanded the body of Aaqib buried in north Kashmir should be allowed to be buried alongside his father.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people participated in his last rites and took part in funeral prayers besides that hundreds of people visited his residence on Wednesday to offer condolences.
