29 foreigners among 100 militants killed this year so far in Kashmir

63 were affiliated with LeT, 24 with JeM, among around 90 encounters this year 57 were reported from South Kashmir only: IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar

Srinagar, Jun 13 : Hundred militants including 71 locals and 29 foreigners were killed this year so far this year in Kashmir, police said Monday.

It said that in the same period just half of it—50 militants—which includes just one foreign militant were killed last year.

He added that this year so far 63 militants affiliated with LeT and 24 with JeM were killed.

“100 Militants (71 local & 29 foreign) killed in different encounters in 5 months & 12 days this year in 2022. 50 militants (49 local & 01 foreign) were killed last year in 2021 in the same duration. Maximum losses to LeT (63) and JeM (24) militant outfits.” Kashmir Police zone tweeted while quoting IGP Kashmir, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Meanwhile, data available with KNO reveals that Kashmir has witnessed around 91 encounters this year so far including the one where militants managed to escape after brief exchange of fire.

Among 91 encounters reported this year, 57 were reported in South Kashmir, 21 in Central Kashmir and 13 were reported in North Kashmir.

Data states that 19 encounters were reported in Pulwama, 16 in Shopian, 11 each in Kulgam and Anantnag in South Kashmir , four in Budgam, two in Ganderbal and 15 in Srinagar in Central Kashmir and three in Bandipora, seven in Kupwara and three in Baramulla in North Kashmir—(KNO)
