Shopian, May 09: Two civilians and a soldier were injured during the ongoing gunfight at Pandoshan area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Monday evening.
Officials said that during the initial Cordon & Search Operation (CASO), the millitants fired upon civilians and tried to escape, in which two civilians got injured.
“Both the injured shifted to hospital. One of them is critical,” they said, adding that the cordon has been strengthened.
Later both the civilians were airlifted to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment, a tweet of J&K Police said.
A soldier has also been reportedly injured who has been evacuvated to the hospital
Pertinently, an encounter broke out between militants and security forces at Pandoshan area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday.
An official said a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area. KNO
