Bijbehara, Mar 26 : Days after a student of Government Degree College Bijbehara was electrocuted to death, students of a school in south Kashmir have demanded shifting of live electric wires passing over school premises.
Shabnam Jan, a class 11 student of Girls Higher Secondary School Bijbehara told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a High Tension (HT) line which is only 12 feet high from the ground is passing over their school.
She added that two electric poles are in the school premises with one among them a concrete pole at the verge of collapse.
Another student said that the live wire is running along Chinar tree and they fear it can prove fatal if timely measures are not taken by the power utility.
They urged the concerned authorities to shift all overhead power lines which are passing over school premises in any part of the Valley so that incidents like the one at GDC Bijbehara does not occur again—(KNO)
