Two soldiers, one cop also killed, seven districts witnessed zero encounters this month

Feb month records 5 encounters in Kashmir; 7 militants killed

Srinagar, Feb 28 : Kashmir valley witnessed five encounters in February month and in these five encounters seven militants were killed.

As per the data available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Shopian witnessed three encounters while Srinagar and Pulwama witnessed one encounter each, however, rest seven districts witnessed zero encounters in February.

Among seven militants killed in February, six belong to LeT/TRF while as one was affiliated with Hizb besides that two soldiers and one SPO was killed in February month in Kashmir.

On February 02, Hizbul militant identified him as Umar Ishfaq Malik@Musa son of Abdul Ahad Malik resident of Bongam Shopian who was active since 2020 was killed in an encounter in Nadigam Shopian

On February 05, two TRF militants identified as Ikhlaq Hajam of Kulgam and Adil from Pulwama district were killed in an encounter in Zakoora area of Srinagar.

On February 07, LeT militant namely Irfan Ahmed Sheikh son of Abdur Rashid Sheikh, a resident of Karimabad, Pulwama was killed in a chance encounter in Nambal Awantipora area of Pulwama district.

On February 19, a LeT militant namely Ab Qayoom Dar from Larve Kakapora Pulwama and two soldiers namely Santosh Yaadev and Romit Chauhan of first RR were killed in an encounter in Chermarg village of Zainapora subdivision in Shopian district.

On February 25, two Let militants namely Muzamil Ahmad Mir S/o Ab Hameed Mir R/o Chatripora, Shopian and Shariq Ayoob S/o Mohd Ayoob Wagay R/o Bonpora, Amshipora, Shopian and house owner (civilian) namely Shakeel Ahmed khan S/o Abdul Rahim Khan R/o Amshipora were killed in an encounter in Amshipora Shopian

On February 11, SPO mamely Zubair Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Rasheed Shah, a resident of Papchan, Bandipora while as four BSF men were injured in a militant attack near Nishat park in Bandipora

It is pertinent to mention here that January month witnessed 12 encounters in which 21 militants, most of them belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad were killed besides two cops were also killed in the same month—(KNO)
