Vehicle theft incidents create panic in downtown Srinagar

Srinagar, March 19: The motor car vehicle theft incidents in  downtown area has created panic among the residents of old city of Srinagar. The locals said the sudden rise in such incidents has alarmed them and created a situation of fear.

Farooq Ahmad, a resident of Dalipora Kawadara area of downtown Srinagar, while talking to Kashmir Rays said three car theft incidents happened on the intervening night of March 18 and 19.

The incidents happened at Dangerpora, Narwara and Sazgaripora  area of downtown Srinagar

Farooq Ahmad said people here mostly keep their vehicles on roadsides due to paucity of space as there are congested localities in the downtown area. “But such incidents have stricken fear among us. Now we don’t know what to do,” he said.

He said police and local administration should do something to stop such incidents and arrest culprits involved in such thefts.
