Newspapers Coordination Committee Holds Session at KPC

Srinagar, Dec 10: The Newspapers Coordination Committee on Thursday organised an extraordinary meet at Kashmir Press Club Srinagar under the chairmanship of Rasheed Rahi to discuss the future planning of the organisation. Almost above 100 editors of various newspapers participated in the meeting.

In the meeting the views of the participants were sought to decide the future roadmap. On the occasion participants unanimously decided that they will act as the bridge between the people and the government. They also decided that in the future they will continue to strive to solve the issues pertaining to the journalist community.

On the occasion chairman Rasheed Rahi acquainted the participants about the meet of the Executive Committee with Joint director information, Harris Handoo.

He said that the issues pertaining to the circulation of newspapers was discussed and the harassment by the information department was also brought in notice of the joint director.

More ever he added that the demand for the accommodation for journalists on priority basis at Delhi & Jammu was also discussed. He also mentioned that delegation demanded that the delisted newspapers must be enlisted again and the empanelment for the advertisements must be reduced to 1 year instead of 3 years.

He also said that the other demands which were put forward included- the rationalisation of the advertisements, increase on the budget of the advertisements and the distribution of the display advertisements without any discrimination.

He also informed them that the delegation comprised of Chairman Rasheed Rahi and Feroz ahmad, Imtiyaz Bazaz, Zahoor Gulzar, Arshid Mir, Pritam Singh Saini of Jammu press association as members of Executive Committee.
At the end of the meeting they passed a resolution condemning the assault of police on the journalists at Srigufwara area of South Kashmir by the police and the high level probe was demanded. (CNS)
